The long wait is over

Dear readers,
dear prospective readers!

The last update of my book Sustainable Software Development With Clean C++ has been published almost 1 year ago. Some readers have, quite rightly, complained that since around 10 months no new version has been published.

First of all I would ask to apologise for the delay, and thank you for waiting so patiently for a new release of my book.

The priorities in the past were different. I had to finish some other stuff that was really important (for instance, I am the co-author of another book for a professional publisher). Hence, the continuation of this book had been shelved for a while. Once again, sorry that you had to wait so long.

Good news! The next update of Sustainable Software Development With Clean C++ is scheduled to be published on Leanpub during calendar week 14 (April 04 – 10, 2016).

The upcoming release is likely to have the following enhancements and additions:

  • More stuff about better coding in chapter Basics of clean C++.
  • A chapter about test doubles and mock objects.
  • Continuation of the chapter about design patterns.
  • Several other refinements and corrections.

Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Stephan

Update

Dear readers,
and dear prospective readers,

I am happy to inform you that the next release of my in-progress book Sustainable Software Development With Clean C++ is finished and published now. I would be very pleased if you would purchase respectively download it from Leanpub.

3d_book_viewAs of today, the book is finished to about 60%. The book now has almost 150 pages (A4). Due to some higher priorities I was not able to implement all of the new parts and improvements that were planned for this release. Nevertheless, I believe that the book contains a lot of interesting improvements and new stuff. Especially the first few pages of a new chapter about design patterns are included.

You can purchase and download the new release in three different formats (PDF, EPUB, MOBI) from the books landing page on Leanpub. Those who have already bought the book can download this update at no additional cost.

Enjoy the read. Any feedback would be greately appreciated.

Once again, thank you for reading my book. The next update will be published soon. To stay informed, please follow @susodevcpp on Twitter, or visit this webpage occasionally from time to time.

Thank you!

Books source code on GitHub

Did you know that some of the books source code examples can be obtained via GitHub repositories?

GitHub Logo (Octocat)I’ve set up a public page with repositories on GitHub, from which some of the books code examples will be available. Currently, the source code of the code kata (“Roman Numerals”) I’ve discussed in the chapter on Test-Driven Development (TDD) can be obtained there. More samples will follow.

Git is a distributed revision control and source code management system. If you don’t have git on your machine, you also can download the samples as zip-Archives. Just go to the page of a repository and click on the “Download ZIP” button in the lower right corner. Enjoy!

Regards,
Stephan
